The Law Firm Miguel Reis & Associados was established in Lisbon, in 1992. The firm is constituted by  two main partners but it has  the active collaboration - in permanence or contributing with specialized services -  of about a dozen independent attorneys. Its headquarters are located in  Lisbon, where it also has offices, and it has associates in the most important capitals. The firm  develops its activity  in two major fields: legal and economic consultancy  and forensic support.

In the consultancy field, the Firm promotes the constitution of multidisciplinary teams with professionals from other areas of knowledge, whenever the situations or the clients require responses that go beyond the legal sphere. In the issues that require the involvement of experts from other areas, we ask for the participation of outside professionals - in the legal area as well as in what concerns other sciences.

We believe that...there is always a legal solution. But many times that solution requires the observation of facts in the light of other sciences.

It will be more and more so, for the evolution of technology is so great and the reality resulting from that evolution is so complex.

One of these days, someone will be held responsible for the consequences of the spreading of the  BSE virus. But that will not happen solely by the involvement of Law, without the mediation of other sciences, namely biology.

Because there is only one life and there is only one reality, this firm’s lawyers accept, by principle, the study and monitoring of legal and legal-economic issues in all practice areas, without prejudice of requesting the cooperation of third parties – both Portuguese and foreigners – whenever that is a need for it.

All areas of Civil and Commercial Law are relevant in our activity, in the negotiable ambit as well as in the contentious one. The constitution and modification of corporations, foreign investment, Tax Law, Labor Law, industrial property and Intellectual Property, Administrative Law in terms of contracts and concessions and the Property Law in all of its aspects, are areas in which the firm has an extensive experience. We pay a close attention to Communications Law and to Cyberspace Law. In partnership with our colleagues all over the world, we dedicate ourselves to Nationality Law and registry issues as well as Immigration Law.

The Firm has been privileging the development of the application of new technologies to Law, trying to develop a system of online legal support and counseling.

We use email in the communication between our clients and ourselves and we support the development of small offices that allow us to have bureaus with the adequate dispersion in order to improve the proximity towards our clients.
